Nursery Activities

Growning Spaces

Growing Spaces is a fruit and vegetable growing project. The project maximises outdoor space for container growing. Children are involved in preparing the compost and containers, planting and tending the plants and then harvesting the crops. Crops are usually eaten in nursery for snack or lunch. The growing activities are incorporated into the everyday routine. The progress of the project is recorded over the season through diary sheets, photographs and displays. Children have very quickly become interested in planting and growing, and often take the initiative in watering plants each day.

Book Loan Scheme

Book Loan Scheme is a project designed to increase children’s interest in books, stories and rhyme through borrowing books to take home. Parents are encouraged to read or look at and talk about the books with their children. The scheme is linked with aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage and aims to improve children’s communication and language skills and provide them with skills required for literacy. The scheme is currently free to join.
